Guide for Mixtures and Substances Collage Poster

The purpose of this collage is to increase your understanding of mixtures and substances. You and your group members will be making a collage that shows evidence of mixtures and substances that can commonly be found. We will be displaying these posters in the classroom to help us with the rest of the chapter. Here are the guidelines to follow for the project.

1. Use the materials provided to construct a collage displaying common examples of mixtures and substances.

2. You may use any part of the magazines on the collage (example: pictures and/or words).

3. There must four distinct sections included on the poster. These are to be: HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURES, HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES, COMPOUNDS, AND ELEMENTS. You may distinguish these sections however you wish.

4. Include as many pieces of evidence as possible. The evidence that you provide will show us your understanding of each type of matter.

5. Use your time WISELY! You will have 30 minutes to make your collage.

6. This will be graded as a class work grade worth a total of 20 points. Participation is expected from all group members. You will grade your own participation as well as that of your group members at the end of class. Your group will determine 4 points of your grade- SO PARTICIPATE.

7. BE CREATIVE AND USE WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW!!

8. Remember SCISSORS ARE SHARP!!! NO HORSEPLAY!!!
