Bo from Philadelphia writes:

Well, the biggest thing I remember about the show was that everybody seemed to be singing every song. When I saw them on the first tour, the place was only half full, and only a handfull of people (me included) seemed to know the songs. Also, I remember my friend who went with his sister and was sitting about 10 rows in front of me, had a backstage pass, but didn't tell me til after the show. That really ticked me off, since I turned him onto Boston. Oh well : )

The pumpkin dodging was something else. The whole week before, on the one stretch of road to Philly (Route 1) people were dropping pumpkins from overpasses and smashing the windshields of passing cars, and in some cases really hurting some people. So on the way down we were really alert for people on the overpasses. We saw a couple and waited 'til the last second and switched lanes while the punpkin splattered in the lane beside us. Made for some interesting driving, but we never got hit : )

During the concert, Brad makes mention of this night being called "Mischief Night." Sounds more like it was Mischief Week!

Jimmy from Philadephia writes

I'd been waiting patiently for two years to see the band after I'd first heard "More Than a Feeling" on my radio at the tail end of the Summer of 76. Somehow the December 18, 1976 show where they opened for Foghat got past me, but a fellow student at Ridley High gave us all the exciting details of it in study hall that Monday. He said that Boston had stolen the show from Foghat (whom I also liked).

I wanted to go to the next shows in April of '77 (during spring break) but they sold out too quickly! But now here they were again on Mischief Night. My friend Dan and his girl, Lorraine, had managed to snag us some tickets and off we went. I don't remember the pumpkin incident that Bo is referring to but know that it probably occured off of the 352/Rte 1 Overpass in Delaware County. 4 years previously a friend had told me that he'd dropped a TV picture tube off of there. We laughed then, but I shudder about it now! What was he thinking?!

Sammy Hagar was good. A lot of energy. He ran and jumped all over the stage! I really loved the new Boston album, "Don't Look Back", especially the title track which had special meaning for me since I'd just broken up with someone. They sounded even better than that Long Beach recording from King Biscuit that I'd heard on the radio in '77 and had recently purchased as a boot. Much better backup vocals on this tour by the guys! LOVED THAT PIPE ORGAN SOLO! It was nice to hear Foreplay since I didn't have it on the boot. My first time to Boston was an awesome experience!
