This is the best one from the Walk On tour.

Finally Mankato is available to the masses! For about two years an excellent quality DAT recording floated around small trading circles. It was also made clear that the taper did not want his recording to wind up on a commercial boot. Thankfully, another equally superb source was found and used to make this excellent boot!

This a top notch audience recoding. It's easily the best quality from this tour. This audience recording probably sounds better than your ears actually heard if you were there live at the concert. It's that good.

Being the first show on the tour, the performance is somewhat raw for this lineup. The band makes an occasional mistake in their performance, which is what really makes live music so exciting. They seemed especially spontaneous in their performance. Perhaps it was to coverup some of their mistakes, perhaps they were just trying out what eventually became habit for the rest of the tour. But whatever the reason, this show features unique performances in several places. I especially like the bluesy intro to Smokin'. That alone is reason to get this disc out and give it a spin.

The artwork is interesting but offers no photos of the band. However, it does include some original artwork featuring the Boston flying guitar spaceship. It looks like they used the ship from the cover of the Japanese tourbook. I guess that's not too original, but it is cool nonetheless.

There is no question that this is the best boot from the Walk On tour. With excellent sound, decent appealing artwork, and a great performance, this is a bootleg that satisfies on every level.
