Although not outstanding, this is the best bootleg from the Third Stage tour.
Great recording from the Third Stage Tour featuring the Third Stage album performed in its entirety. The crowds during this tour were generally sold out and electrified. It was an exciting time for Boston. I can only imagine what it had been like in the 70's, but it must've been a similar level of intensity.
This recording is complete except for only a few minor flaws. The only missing segments occur between LP sides and are generally shorter than a few seconds. The set is the longer version played on this tour and features "Hitch a Ride" making this a very enjoyable and lengthy show. And don't forget about the awesome extended version of Hollyann, my personal favorite moment of the concert.
Sound quality is about as good as it gets for a recording from this tour. It's a bit lacking in the high range, but still it ranks way up there. It's very good for an audience tape, just not perfect. There just weren't a lot of great recordings from this tour.
The artwork is as boring as it gets. The LPs were packaged in a plain white jacket with a small bumper-sticker-like label on the front cover featuring an outline of the state of Massachussettes. The back cover is all text except for two generic-looking guitars.
